Reigning tennis celebrity Serena Williams was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on Sept. 26, 1981. She is the youngest of 5 women.

Williams started practising together with her father two hours a day when she was 3-years-old together with her sister Venus Williams at tennis courts in Compton, California. Her father taught them play tennis by books and movies.

Williams turned skilled in 1995 and shortly rose by the ranks together with her sister. In 1999, she gained the U.S. Open title, her first Grand Slam win. Over the following decade, she took over the game. In 2013, she gained her seventeenth Grand Slam title on the U.S. Open. She has gained 10 doubles titles together with her sister Venus Williams.

Williams has 4 Olympic gold medals, one for ladies’s singles within the 2012 London video games and three in girls’s doubles total. As of Feb. 18, 2013, Williams ranked because the world’s no. 1 participant within the WTA.
