Mass protests continued in Belarus, because the opposition chief threatened a mass walkout by staff if President Alexander Lukashenko doesn’t resign.

Sunday, 25 October, was the final day of an ultimatum set by Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

Protests have swept the nation since Mr Lukashenko claimed victory in an August ballot extensively considered as rigged.

He has dominated Belarus for 26 years and is usually described as “Europe’s final dictator”.
