The Washington, D.C. Police Department has retracted its preliminary declare that members of the native Black Lives Matter motion had been concerned in a stabbing incident in opposition to a member of the white supremacist group The Proud Boys.

Initially, 2D Watch Commander Lt. Neal instructed ABC7 “that the stabbing victims had been members of the Proud Boys group, and that the suspects had been a part of a Black Lives Matter group.” The incident reportedly occurred on election night time at 2:25 a.m.

On the morning of November 5, police mentioned they couldn’t verify the account  from the Proud Boys, in keeping with WUSA9. Moreover, WJLA mentioned there was “no proof” to the victims’ allegations.

Black Lives Matter DC released a statement, saying the D.C. police “launched statements implicating us in an act of violence that furthers their makes an attempt to discredit our political energy, in a sustained marketing campaign of copaganda.”

BLM DC additionally requested for “an impartial, honest, and neutral investigation into final night time’s violence triggered by white supremacist teams.”
